Mobile virtual private network (VPN) security features - including data encryption - are provided by Lotus® Mobile Connect (LMC) software. The communications software platform (which is a follow-on release to WebSphere® Everyplace® Connection Manager software) helps enterprises efficiently extend existing instant messaging and enterprise applications to mobile workers using wireless and wired network connections.

LMC can be used by emergency workers to automatically reestablish connections to back-end systems, such as 911, while in the field. Less technical mobile workers often use it to reduce the amount of tech support needed to move between VPNs and wireless networks. And many Domino shops use it to provide secure, clientless access to their iNotes.
